Capitalism Works!

Since I was a young boy, may parents encouraged competition, competitiveness and teamwork.  They said it would build and mold me into a better person.  Competition at the end of the day is good and there has to be winners and losers.      Recently in my small town a new grocery store opened up. It's a Brookshires store and I really like it a lot! Its been a huge success so far and a lot of people have gone there to do their shopping. The convenience for dad and me will be wonderful!  There are gas pumps at this store and they sell diesel. (We have 2 diesel trucks, hence the excitement.)  This store has a Walmart that is 6 miles down the road and on a major highway.  So the new store is working against them for their competition.      With all this being said, they work to make their prices comparable to Walmart's.  The main difference is in their diesel and gas prices.  They match the low price that...

Time and a place for everything.

There are a lot of people that speak their minds whenever they want! They do it morning noon and night and honestly have no regard for what others think about them or what they say.  This is not such a bad thing for the most part. I was raised to believe that there is a time and a place for everything.  There is a time when you are free to speak your mind and say what you want about a situation.  I believe a person who really cares for others to hear their message will say it when the time is right. For the most part i am a laid back fella and get along with many people.  I can put up with a lot actually and I believe my years of management and working with people help a lot with that trait.  I actually love people, I love to hear about where they came from, who they are and so forth. There is a time and place for everything. When people are working and its a job where people are focused on working I believe its important to leave them alone. When people a...

Common Sense

To start off with, most people that think they have common sense. Have no common sense at all! I have spent a long time working with and managing people to know this to be true. ;-)          There have been a couple of books written by the name of Common Sense.   Thomas Paine's is one of the most recognizable and famous versions.  There is another one by Glenn Beck  that is not as famous, however has received a lot of great reviews.  I would personally recommend everyone to read both of these books. Not to change your beliefs, just to open your minds to other ideas.      This is my philosophy on common sense in general.  Most people would say they have common sense, yet, only look at it from their stand point. So if a person who is always gets $100 at Christmas from their company just to say thank you, might believe it makes sense that all companies should do that for each perso...

Rain, Family and Politics

Seems like an odd combination.  They go together more then some would believe. Rain has been an essential part of our Ecosystem since the beginning of time.  Mother nature and the earth tend to run in cycles.  According to an article in the   NYTimes . It shows the earth is warming faster then then previously thought. Now some will say that we are destroying the earth and fossil fuels are killing our ecosystem.  So my question to them is this, "If our industrialized nation is causing the warming now, what caused it 4000 years ago when there were no factories, cars, trucks, or refinery plants?" It's easy for people to blame what is happening right now on the problems. There very well may be influential factors all around us.  The one step I think people are missing has to do with, what caused it back thousands of years ago?  We have gone through a large and mini ice age on earth. Both prior to the so called problems of today's' wo...

Today's Political World

I am not going to sit here and go into a rant about left, or right or whats the solution is to the countries problems. I do not have all the answers. With that being said, I do not believe any one person has all the answers.  I do believe that collectively when people work together, they can achieve greatness!  We have gridlock in our government.  People are not working together. They are working for each other and self preservation. This is something that is not new to D.C.  I think its been there for ages! The difference is we can see it more easily and with the media and 24/7 news cycle.  The other part of all this is there are people that truly want to change this country.  These people live in D.C. which is the only city seeing continual job growth. The rest of the country is suffering in my opinion. Drought, continual high unemployment, sluggish growth in the GDP, and Medicare just to name a few.  I do not have the answers to these ...

Supper Time

When I was growing up my family sat down for supper every night.  Most mornings we even had breakfast together.  This was a time where we talked and discussed the days events. It's also a place where we learned a lot of lessons.  If you do not like what is fixed, then fix it yourself or don't eat.   Don't put more on your plate then you can eat (eyes being bigger then your stomach)  It's rude to talk with your mouth full of food.  Don't play with your food, eat it or put your plate up.  This is a time when you put your own plate in the sink and that of others that were finished. You also did the dishes if you were not the cook.  Lots of good times spent around the dinner table in my house.  My dad and I still have the same table that we ate on for years. It serves us well and still is a place where we talk about events of the day. Share ideas and thoughts with each other.   Out in the country where I grew up we have li...

The Begining

We all come from somewhere in this world. Most of us are from our loving mothers wombs.  Some we are not too sure about! lol I have decided to start a blog.  Scary I know.  I recently turned 38 and the older I get the less I care what others think about me.  The important items in my life are family, friends and loved ones.  As long as I do my best to treat everyone with respect and dignity then I think I am doing alright. There are many topics that will be discussed on this blog.  There will be Cattle, Cooking, Booze, Lifestyles and even Politics.  There will be many more as well and I encourage everyone to read the posts and reply even letting me know your thoughts and suggestions. I will be labeling the posts and eventually categorizing them so people can read what they want to read or skip over a post.   I am a believer in the theory that we can only expand our minds if we open them up to new ideas.  I do not like or...
