Choices!

This may seem like a random topic.  To me it's something that means so much and yet people take the act of choice, for granted. Now I will start of by saying that I have not always made the best choices in my life. There are plenty of people and maybe even a cop or two that can attest to that statement! I digress though.      Choices that we make everyday not only affects us, it affects others as well.  It goes back to that old adage of our actions have consequences. I believe we do make a choice about everything we do in our lives and we are the drivers of our own destiny.  The reason for this topic tonight is because at the end of the day, whether it's politics, religion, friends, family or work. We as individuals always have a choice.      A gentleman recently came out as gay and is a professional athlete. I am sure it is hard being in the spot light and a big star for anyone to voice something so per...

Calling a Spade, a Spade.

For as long as I can remember, my family has never held back their feelings or what they thought about a topic or a person. There were a couple of schools of thoughts in my house. The first was walk softly, but carry a big stick.  The other was there is a time and a place for everything.  When it was time, the stick could come down heavy and those in the path would usually walk away not knowing what happened.      Telling a person in a polite manner that they are a complete idiot and have no clue what they are talking about can be an art form.  I think my mother perfected that and hopefully passed that to me. My father on the other hand held his tongue until the time was needed and released a wrath of words that would leave you feeling smaller then an ant.  My parents did not like to mince words and I do not either. For those that new my sister she was the exact same way and I thank the good lord everyday for that qualit...

TAX TIME!!!!! UGH!!

This is a time of year that we love and that we hate. For many reasons we love it, the weather is great in most parts of the country. We can start our outdoor chores in the evenings after work, the grass is green and nights are perfect!! The reason we hate it, is because its time to do your taxes.      For many people, they wait until the last minute to do their taxes. Mainly because they will owe the IRS or not get anything at all back in the form of a return.  Estimations show that the IRS will receive about 2 trillion dollars in money from Taxes.  Now I am not sure if that is just for what people owe now, or total from what has already been paid.  The point is, that is a lot of money that is being collected and what is being done with it to help America?!      I think the better question we all should be asking ourselves is, why does the government continue to add too policies and codes, yet they do not go back and r...

Reality TV is not Reality

This is a topic that people are all over the board. Some love them, some hate them, some watch a few shows  only.  My philosophy on reality TV is that "I live in reality, every day, with bills, concerns and where my actions count."      Some of the shows that are on TV now have a great message. Others are the wrong examples for everyone. I strongly believe parents should be the ones talking to their kids about which shows are right or wrong to be watching and explaining why.  The problem is we have parents who are OBSESSED with reality TV!!      Shows that have a message of family, sticking together, working together and staying positive are most of the time great for people to watch.  Now, does that mean you have to go on a desert island to live off the land to survive to get all that, you can, my question is why? It's not reality for people in America.      With the shows dedicated to showc...
