Solve the Real Problem

The media does not do a good job of spreading the truth. Even old school reporters, like Dan Rather, have a hard time taking the politics and sensationalism out of a story and just stating the facts. A lot of horrible things have happened to people over the last year. Suicide rates are up, overdose rates are up, and common sense seems to be a thing of the past.  Most news stories or heaviness are not the real story or problem of any event. You have to dig deeper. Just like in your own life, you have to dig deeper to solve the real problem. Most people aren’t asking the right questions.  When people see a severely obese person riding a scooter in a store with a basket full of junk food, people draw their own conclusions. They believe they know the answers already as to why they are in that scooter and so obese. While that is part of the answer, it’s not all of it. How does someone let it get to that point? What caused them to give up on taking care of their health? That person ...

Not Living in Fear

Growing up in the country there is plenty most people would be scared of in life. One thing my parents tried to instill in me was not to be afraid. There were plenty of times in my life when I was afraid. Even as an adult. The older I get though, the less fear I have in life. Call it strength or understanding of the world. We get along better in life with less fear.  When I was growing up, we had a 1940’s farm house with no central heat or a/C. I remember one spring or summer day I was walking around to the front of the house. And there was this huge snake on the steps of the front porch. I slowly just walked away to the back of the house and called out for mom or dad. The snake was gone when we went out the front door to check.  Living in that house we had plenty of encounters with snakes. It was the country and that was an old house. We had an old well house beside it. I still don’t like snakes and if I see one, I might scream like a little girl. The difference i...

One Section at a Time

It’s 4 AM. Your alarm goes off. It’s time to get everything in the trailer and head to a show. Life in the livestock industry is not for the weak. Late nights, early mornings, long days, and lots of life lessons. The problem is life is always changing. We have to take what happens one day at a time. It is like blow drying your animals. There are no wrong ways to do it. No matter what, you need to take it, one section at a time. If you walk into any show barn and ask everyone how to dry your animal, there will be 10 different answers from 10 different people. The reason is, there is no single right way. There are many right ways to do it and still have the same finished product, a dry animal.  If you have ever worked hair on cattle, blow drying can be a super satisfying task. You get focused on one task and doing the best job at that task. We have all seen cattle that have not had the proper time in the barn or attention to hair that is needed. Water, comb, brush, and bl...

Questions Why

You are not stupid for wearing a mask. It’s about choice. You are not stupid for going mask less. It’s about choice.  You are not stupid for getting the vaccine. It’s about choice.  You are not stupid for saying no to the vaccine. It’s about choice.  Some will scream that people are endangering the lives of others. For what? A virus that has a 98% survival rate and most likely higher due to cases that were never tested?   Why is the government pushing so hard for vaccines that have side effects?  Why are so many powerful people and companies pushing a medical procedure that many doctors are very cautious of?  Why did so many people believe that the government wouldn’t over reach their bounds to control people’s lives?  Why is there a fence and national guard around the nation’s capital while talks of taking guns away from law abiding citizens occur? Why do the hypocrites in D.C. lie about so much and pretend they never said anything or...

Garlic Bread

I have written about a cheap can of biscuits recently. Let’s talk about garlic toast. In my family, bread was important with meals. It is used as a catalyst to push the food onto your fork. It is a tasty side to many dishes. When you go out to a restaurant, garlic bread is a nice tasty stick from an Olive Garden, or a nice piece of french bread. Either case, it’s normally delicious and I always want more of it.  Growing up we didn’t always have a loaf of French bread to make garlic toast in our house. So, we used hamburger or hot dog buns split in half. Both gave us the catalyst needed for pushing food up on our fork.  Garlic bread is one of those items that can go with many dishes. Italian food, chicken fried anything, barbecue, or even just a bowl of soup. Many believe that you can only have garlic bread a certain way. Each family has their own way to prepare their garlic bread. I know families that buy extra loads of french bread and freeze them so they are prep...
