It’s funny sometimes how when we need answers, we just pull out our phones and search Google. There is nothing wrong with this and I do it fairly often. Years ago, I was in a restaurant and a lady at a neighboring table said she would just GTS when she didn't know the answer. Her grandson taught her. Someone asked what GTS stood for, she replied, “Google that shit!”. We all laughed.
Imagine if you could Google God for answers to life. What if you could Google ways to lose weight, or what if you could Google what your spouse was thinking. Scratch that last one, I am not sure we want to know what is in people's minds.
In a way you can Google some of those questions. You still won't get a solid answer. Some questions we cannot Google or search on the internet. We have to live with the question.
Searching the internet will tell you what people feed cattle. It will not teach you how to feed cattle. The internet will show examples of livestock equipment to buy. It will not explain why or why you don't need certain equipment.
The human factor is missing. The people that have lived and experienced what you are looking for are the ones you need to seek out. People are good. They will help those willing to help themselves. Asking questions are key to learning.
If you want to know how to live a better life, start talking to people who have the life you want. If you want to be a better showman in the ring, start talking to the kids that are winning. If you want to find out how to feed livestock, talk to the people that have the top selling animals.
So many times we reach for our phones for an answer when all we need to do is reach for the Good Book, to the person next to us, or the neighbor willing to lend a helping hand. There are times in life when we have to just live and make mistakes. We also have to learn from those mistakes in life to grow.
Not all answers are found when you GTS. Just like not all answers magically appear. There is no manual for life. The instructions are simple though for most. Work hard to take care of your family and those you love, help others in need, give back to your community when able, enjoy what time you have on this earth.
The answers to life’s greatest questions are not in Google. What is in Google are memes for your friend who is about to make a life change and live in a camper. What is in Google is a recipe for lemon bundt cake because lemon cakes are awesome. What is in Google is the lyrics to your favorite 80s hair band because you want to make sure you sing it properly to your young nephews.
Put down the phone, pick up a pen and write a letter to a loved one. Go look at the beautiful sunset, drink coffee to the sunrise, and get right with yourself and God.
“It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organize the peace.” - Aristotle
