When the Sun Goes Down.

It's been one of those weeks and it's that time of the year. When the sun goes down you are either finishing chores outside or starting dinner.  Either way I love it.  This has always been on of my favorite times of the year.  Yes I know it's hot, get over it.  I would rather sweat then freeze any day!

I am sitting here waiting on one of my nephews to get off work so I can drive him to a cattle show. We are leaving tonight and he will show tomorrow.  He will then turn around and come right back after the show to work again.  That makes me more proud then anything else.  Learning that the hard work you do pays off goes a long way.

This time of year is meant for meat on the grill, fresh veggies out of the garden, and homemade ice cream or deserts.  That is the way I grew up and it's the way I want to live.  There is a lot to be said for the convenience of living in town I suppose.  It's not for me.

The other thing I like about this time of year is you can spend so much more time outside. Watering the grass, pulling weeds in the garden, checking cows, or relaxing on the porch.  This is the simple life that I think god wanted us to have so that we can appreciate more in life.

It never ends to amaze me when I am out shopping or picking up a few items how people just are oblivious to the world.  When I was picking up some dog food, the check out girl said out loud, "I am in no rush, I am here until 9 tonight."  Well that does not mean the people you are checking out want to spend that entire time with you!

Then I was getting some diesel.  A lot of gas stations online have 1 set of pumps with diesel on either side. It does not bother me when people use the gas at those pumps.  That is fine.  It bothers me when someone uses the gas at the pump next to it and leaves their passenger door WIDE OPEN so that no one can pull up beside them and get fuel.  I was nice about it too!!! (shocking I know).

As I was getting my fuel, I could not help but laugh at it all.  I realized that if that is the worst that has happened to me today, then it has been a pretty good day.  There are times like these that I count my blessings.  My dad and I don't have a lot in life.  I realize that the older I get, I am okay with having less.  It's those phone calls from friends wishing me safe travels and good luck at the show that matter.  It's the texts messages of random thoughts and moments that mean the most.

I don't care what celebrities name their children.  The important pieces of my life are not affected by those people.  A good friend of mine posted a sign to my facebook page that still makes me laugh.  It goes something like this, "I don't sugar coat anything, I am not Willie Wonka!"  I will tell you the truth, I will not though intentionally hurt your feelings.

For everyone that got home from work and went to a restaurant,  cooked supper, or had a drink at happy hour.  Your day could not, and would not have happened, had it not been for Farmers and Ranchers. That is why, on the 8th day, God made a farmer.
