I started this post the other day and it was titled something else and decided to change it since people never cease to amaze me. I know a lot of people. They either worked with me, were one of my employees when I managed people, or friends and family. I like to follow a wide variety of people on my twitter account. I think it's important to get a well rounded idea of what people think and believe.
There are some horrific tragedies that have occurred in our country. They are tragedies that we have seen in the past and will continue to see in the future. We as Americans come together and support each other, we provide support, food, money, and a prayer. All are important to the process of rebuilding their lives that have been destroyed.
Theordore Rosevelt was fond of the West African Proverb "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." Pretty good saying in my book. It makes me wonder though, how far we could go as a society and culture if we all practiced that philosophy a little bit more in life.
A report on Fox News tonight highlighted a Senator from Rhode Island that had the nerve to not only blame the tornado's on global warming. He also went on to say that because "people in the south" basically pollute the earth more is the reason why the tornado's occur. The clip was on the O'Reilly factor. The Senator had to apologize for the prepared speech. Here is the link for Senator Whitehouse. He is a special kind of stupid.
What this senator forgets to mention is that most of the weather we are having now is extremely similar to the weather in the 50's. He also fails to mention that the severity of the tornado's have gone down over the years. The U.S. has a large population of people. We have some of the most strict laws around environmental protection. Yet we are still blamed for all the problems in the world with global warming when other countries do nothing.
Next, lets go ahead and get this out of the way. If you still support the POTUS and love the responses from all his aids, cabinet officials, and people running the government of "I do not know, I was not there or part of that discussion" you might be a special kind of stupid. The first conservative who has ever spoken those words are crucified in the media. Finally more media outlets are covering the stories (yes that is plural for more then one) and starting to talk about the failings of the administration. The administration has already been shown to be caught in a few lies. "Special!" Lets not forget the IRS official that is about to testify and plead the fifth!
I don't believe in global warming. Almost every one of the so called freak nature events that have occurred are repeating tragedies. They have occurred in the past. Evidently pollution and global warming killed all the dinosaurs since they ate all the plants on the planet. (BTW controlled grazing and a practice farmers have done for years to help keep pastures replenished and healthy.)
People who live in the country, the south, and outside of largely populated areas do not question motives. They just go and help. They do not start making statements like, "I am waiting for Billy Graham to blame gay marriage on the storms. (That was a direct quote from someone on my Facebook.) They do not start pushing blame on others or even God. God is there to comfort and lead others in to helping when needed. You are a special kind of stupid if you believe what you are saying.
The tragedies that have occurred and that will continue to occur will always cause rise to one event, it will cause for people to pray. Do you want to know why in my opinion. Because a majority of the people in this country believe in a higher power. They pray because they know that our lives have meaning. We are on this earth for a purpose. Some are here to annoy us, others are here to inspire us. God does not create events or make people do harm. God gives us a reason to believe in the good of others. God gives us a path search for peace and a better way of life. Being good does not mean that you have to believe in God or a higher power. The problem is, those that believe they are always thinking of others, are the first to put down those that believe in God and always expect the worst. You are a special kind of stupid if you do not see the hypocrisy or understand how ironic your comments sound.
I know everyone who cares about people are praying that the healing for our fellow Americans in Oklahoma starts soon. I know that if anyone wants to make light of preachers and christian leaders. I better see some posts about Muslim and Buddhist leaders on their pages or in their tweets. The reason is, if you only target one group to discriminate against, and talk negative about, that is the definition of discrimination and hate speech. Otherwise, you are a special kind of stupid.
Psalm 147:3
