Let Freedom Ring

     The 4th Day of July, 1776 should always be a great day of celebration in this great country.  The United States is a young country compared to European counterparts.  We are though, the longest ruled country under the same document.  The Declaration of Independence was the precursor to the constitution.  These are two very critical documents in our country and should be treated as such until the end of time.  That is my opinion as I am very proud to be an American.

     The men who help create this country and the women behind them that supported their efforts are and will always be true patriots.  They were all military men who helped defeat the British and gain our independence as a country.  I know there is a lot of talk and discussion about the wrongs committed against the Native Americans.  The way they were treated cannot be excused.  Just like Slavery cannot be excused.  As a country and have actually worked to wright those wrongs and have been pretty successful.  Now we have Native Americans with the largest Casino's in the country and making so much money, it can never be spent in their great-grand kids lifetimes.  We have schools, colleges, and even organizations whose sole purpose is to promote, educate and help the black community.

     Thank God we live in a country, with a free market and capitalistic economy that allows for all those to be possible.  There is not another country or nation where those who were once so suppressed been able to get ahead so fast or with such success.  I am a firm believer in all men are created equal.  "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." ~Declaration of Independence. The beauty of this document is it has allowed our country to grow and prosper.  We have one of the strongest military's, largest economic and most prosperous countries due to these documents.

     The American spirit is a CAN DO attitude.  We help our fellow neighbors, support our troops, and keep our government in check.  The entrepreneurial spirit helped build this nation. Men who came from nothing built great empires and fortunes.  Ones that live to this day and gives back to communities through many charities and organizations. We still have people who start from nothing and work their ways up to great success.  Microsoft started from childhood friends who shared a common interest, Apple was created in a garage, and Yeti created by two brothers who had an idea for a better cooler that lasted longer.

     Companies like those listed above are what makes America great and it is due to the brave men and women that we are allowed these freedoms.  We have a CHOICE in this country.  We can buy our coffee from an overpriced shop with it's roots in Washington state. Or we can buy it from the local diner down the road.  Either way that money goes to hard working Americans.  We can choose to buy a cake from the local baker which supports our community or go to a name brand store in larger cities.  We can pierce, tattoo, or desecrate our bodies in any way we want and it is our choice.

     Agriculture roots are deep in this country and has allowed us to grow into a country that feeds the world.  The agriculture community help keep this country going in the beginning, still exist today.  We have the right to choose food from a box brand store, or the local farmers markets.  We have the choice to drink whole milk or almond milk.  We have the choice to eat red meat or have a meatless diet (although who really knows why.)

     Thanks to the brave men and women in our armed forces, the for thought of our founding fathers, and the hard work on all the men and women in this country, we have the greatest nation that exists.  We have the CHOICES that many others don't have in other countries.  America is not about telling everyone they have to love all groups of people. America was not designed to force people to do what they didn't want in life.  America is about having the opportunity for those groups to exist in peace and prosper and thrive if they have great enough support.  You cannot make a person love another person.  You can however teach them to treat others with respect.  America is about Freedom.  America is about Choice.

     As we go forth on this great day of celebration in the United States.  Please remember, if you woke up in America today, thank a veteran. If you ate, thank a farmer.  Without these two groups of people, nothing else in this country would be possible.

     I started this post the other day and it was titled something else and decided to change it since people never cease to amaze me. I know a lot of people. Clean your Windshield

It’s that time of year where people will have the “new year, new me” phrase going strong. For many that will last about 2-3 weeks.  For others they will last well into mid-year. I am of the philosophy that you should make changes immediately in life. If you need to start eating healthier then go to the cupboard and fridge and throw out all unhealthy food. If you are going to stop drinking, throw out all your booze. (Rest a sure this will not happen in my house.) If you are going to start working harder on your livestock, turn off your phones and get to the barn. If you are going to sit back and re-evaluate your life while planning for new adventures, sit down and make a list. Every one of these goals requires you to clean your windshield to see what is ahead of you.  As we go down the highway of life we have a big broad windshield in front of us. It is Just a Show

  In the beginning I was not a watcher or a fan. There was a lot of talk. Chatter online. Then I decided to tune and check out all the hype. There is cattle, ranching, horses, politics, drama, and suspense. This show was a creation from the mind of a very creative horse jockey. The story is well written, the acting is superb, and the raw attitude is what brings people back each week. This show hits an audience that is hungry for real talk, real action, and real results. The bad part is it is all fiction.  The show is full of wrong information. Actions that make no sense. Calves do not jump up and start running immediately after being born. Most cattle ranches don’t take their hands and shoot them off a cliff if their employment has ended. They don’t brand their workers for show of loyalty. The good news is it is all fiction.  The characters in the show are people you either love or hate. They are characters that bring a lot of talent to the show. These people come from ma...
