There are many firsts in all our lives. Days, moments or events that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Celebrating these first events should be done regularly and with joy. Allowing ourselves to be happy about first events is a great way to allow our hearts to be fuller and lives more rich.
Many people remember their first kiss, their first boyfriend or girlfriend. People remember their first true love. This is the time of year where parents send their kids off to school. For many this is the first day of school of any kind. First day of Pre-K and Kindergarten can be very special. For me the first day of Kindergarten and College are ones I will always remember.
For those of us that do not have kids. We too should take a minute to enjoy all the blessings that come with these firsts. If we want to evolve and be happy as people, we need to see the beauty in others. I know that the posts on social media can get annoying for some people. Please read some of my previous blogs about logging off your social media to enjoy life. The rest of us will sit back and laugh at the antics that ensue on the first day of school.
A lot of my friends have kids going to school for the first time. One dear friend whose wedding I had the pleasure of being part of years ago had her oldest child start Kindergarten. It was one of those bitter sweet moments. Knowing how smart this young man is and what greatness he will accomplish is inspiring. He is starting school already knowing 2 languages. Impressive kid in my book.
There is one story that I came across and I could not help laughing. This is one of the best stories I have ever heard about first days of school. A mom posted a note from the teacher on her child's first day of school. It was highlighted and had stars around it. In the note it read "(Kids Name) choked his friend today. His friend bit him on the arm." According to the posts the mom said per her child the kid deserved it. I could not stop laughing.
I know these parents had a talk with the child about not choking others. It is not the right way to handle a situation. You cannot help shaking your head and wondering, if this is how Pre-K starts, what will the rest be like?! Laughing at events like this in the background goes a long way to leading healthier lives. So many people in today's society want to stop and have a therapy session over the entire event. Some people would even be scared send their kid back to school.
As adults we have to look at it all and say, it will be alright. These are kids, and no harm no foul. We need to do this more as adults and take that step back and laugh at the situation. It happened, now move on.
These are pre-k kids that are already going at it. You know the best part. Is that after events like that, these two kids could be the best friends the rest of their life. Kids from a rural area have a different way of thinking and it shows. Kids are tough, they fight, kick and play hard, then at the end they make up and go on being friends. This is a lesson a lot of adults need to learn.
Some first time events are not always the best to celebrate, first time to make parole, first time to not get convicted, or even first time to you illegal substances. We need to be smart about the celebrations and what events are important enough to celebrate and share with friends.
To everyone out there, please remember that we all have firsts in our lives. Some end up great, others end up not so great. We need to celebrate days and events like this because is makes us feel better about life. Please do not misunderstand, I am not for giving all the kids a trophy and everyone is a winner. What I am saying is enjoy the moments when they happen and share them with others so they may enjoy as well.
