Ever since I was a kid, I love to read the funnies in the Sunday paper. My mother is the one that got me started doing it when I was young. She always would flip to the funnies in the daily paper too and read those and always find something to get a chuckle about on a daily basis.
When I sat down to have breakfast with dad this morning the funny paper was sitting at my spot. I started going through it and found a chuckle in there on a couple of pages. It reminded me how important it is to laugh. Laughing has always been known to do a person good. It releases chemicals in our body that help us feel good and do better throughout the day.
Today it did something else for me. It gave me back some perspective that I tend to lose. When I go to work at my current job, we do not handle life or death matters. We are a manufacturer of trailers. If a trailer does not get built on time there are delays that occur down the road and create a domino affect. Even with that in mind, it's a small aspect of our everyday lives. We are not curing cancer, feeding the poor, or educating the young. At the end of the day all you can do is laugh at what happens. It is sometimes like being in the funny papers on a daily basis.
With today also being Easter it gives me a little hope in that better things are coming, not just for me, for everyone. When it comes to hope and faith, I believe you have to look at it from not only your individual stand point, you have to look at it from everyone's. I am not saying that I want everyone to get all they wish for in life. That is just ridiculous. What I do hope for is that everyone finds peace in their lives and comfort. I hope that they find happiness and joy. I also hope and pray that they seek salvation. Everyone should be wanting the same for others. This is part of thinking and do well by your fellow man.
This year Easter fell on April the 20th. 420 for those that like to get high with marijuana which I am sure most of them thought was funny. No I am not a fan of legalizing this drug or many others. Most people smoke this drug and most studies show that smoking is devastating to your health. I find it ironic that people wanted to spend years demonizing cigarette smokers. The government spent billions of dollars trying to get people to quit. I think it is funny that the current administration turns a blind eye to it all now. Other drugs like crack, cocaine, meth and others also have very harmful affects on your body. We know these are bad, lets not make them legal.
I believe it's also funny that the federal government can surround and barricade a ranch in Nevada faster than any other task. The government does own the land. The problem is, the government and politicians want to call citizens who want to defend the land they work domestic terrorist. However, they do not want to do the same to the radical Islamic people that are in the U.S. and around the world. Hypocrisy is all over the governments face at this point. We have serious problems in D.C. Keeping the same goons up there and allowing them to stay longer is not the answer.
Sundays like this which represent a very holy and sacred part of a religion should be no laughing matter. It should be spent with those that you love and care for and doing something that is good for all. I am the last person to judge what you do on a day such as Easter, as long as you are not committing crimes or harming others. I do believe that days like this should allow us all to reflect on the good in our lives and what we have accomplished. It also needs to give way that there is hope for the future. That we as a society, and even individuals will do and be better human beings.
I think it is funny that we as humans do not take more time to appreciate what we already have in life. One of my prayers is that we as a society and race continue to improve and that we get better. Age does tend to make us wiser. Let us pray that some of the idiots that live in large cities will soon realize that pissing off those that provide the food you eat, is not a good idea.
Remember, on the 8th day, God created a farmer.
Matthew 28:6 6"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
