Times are Changing

When I was born the following events were happening in the U.S. and the world:

  • Jimmy Hoffa ex teamsters boss disappears never to be seen again
  • Patti Hearst Becomes Most Wanted and is Arrested for armed robbery
  • The UK implements the Sex Discrimination and Equal Pay Act
  • New York City avoids bankruptcy when President Gerald R. Ford signed a $2.3 billion loan.
  • Bill Gates and Paul Allen develop a BASIC program for the Altair 8800
  • The Vietnam War ends as Communist forces take Saigon and South Vietnam surrenders unconditionally
  • The British Conservative Party chooses it's first women leader, Margaret Thatcher
  • Motorola obtains patent for the first portable mobile phone
  • Sony introduces Betamax videotapes and Matsushita / JVC introduce VHS

These are some interesting items and ones that make you think I hope.  Most people do not even use VHS tapes anymore and many others have no clue about Patti Hearst.

I recently ran across an article online and I was just shocked at its content.  So hopefully my readers will enjoy this lesson.  I have taken the same article piece and changed the wording in one of the pieces.  I want you all to think about it and ask yourself which is true and which is wrong.

  • "In other words, Homosexuals who live and work in Oregon must follow man's law instead of their personal beliefs.  But in a show a benevolence, the state is willing to rehabilitate and reeducate LGBT business owners like the Kleins".

  • "In other words, Christians who live and work in Oregon must follow man's law instead of god's law. But in a show of benevolence, the state is willing to rehabilitate and reeducate Christian business owners like the Kleins".

At the end of the day, both statements are wrong and do nothing to promote the betterment of mankind.  Article on foxnews.com titled "Todd's American Dispatch."  This will give you the correct answer.

For me, if we look at a situation and reverse the roles, would we be so upset, or feel like we were wronged.  It bothers me that ANY group will use tactics to destroy a persons lively hood just because they do not like their beliefs.  This would never happen to a Muslim business, a LGBT business, or even a black business.  If it did, there being OUTRAGE from liberals and mainstream media.

There is a clear disconnect in our society.  We have a POTUS that is hoping by allowing the corrupt Russian Government to help monitor all the chemical weapons of a dictatorship regime, all will be good in the world.

We have groups that drive people out of business because they disagree with a lifestyle.  We have state and local governments wanting to rehabilitate people because of their beliefs.  Last time I checked we live in a free country.  EVERY person has a right to speak their minds and even serve who they do or do not want too.

It is not my concern who someone wants to sleep with or spend their lives with is not my concern.  As long as they live a good life with morals and respect for other people,  then there should never be an issue.  For me the problem is when a person or persons, feel like they are being wronged because someone did not want to make a cake for their wedding.  I am pretty sure there are more places to get a cake made for a wedding.

Instead of tearing down a business for their beliefs, lets prop up the ones that support your views. Instead of targeting businesses you disagree with, start letting the free market decide and everyone choose what business will succeed and fail.

There are a lot of reasons why I have concerns with this whole situation.  I have a lot of problems with what is going on in our country.  Its been said that the meek shall inherit the earth.  I think it will surprise people someday soon who the meek really are in this country.  The meek are those that stick to their beliefs, do no harm to others, and work for a better world.  Those people come in many different shapes, sizes, colors and even beliefs.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

You are a special kind of stupid aren't you?

I started this post the other day and it was titled something else and decided to change it since people never cease to amaze me. I know a lot of people. They either worked with me, were one of my employees when I managed people, or friends and family.  I like to follow a wide variety of people on my twitter account.  I think it's important to get a well rounded idea of what people think and believe.      There are some horrific tragedies that have occurred in our country.   They are tragedies that we have seen in the past and will continue to see in the future.  We as Americans come together and support each other, we provide support, food, money, and a prayer.  All are important to the process of rebuilding their lives that have been destroyed.      Theordore Rosevelt was fond of the West African Proverb "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." Pretty good saying in my book. ...

Clean your Windshield

It’s that time of year where people will have the “new year, new me” phrase going strong. For many that will last about 2-3 weeks.  For others they will last well into mid-year. I am of the philosophy that you should make changes immediately in life. If you need to start eating healthier then go to the cupboard and fridge and throw out all unhealthy food. If you are going to stop drinking, throw out all your booze. (Rest a sure this will not happen in my house.) If you are going to start working harder on your livestock, turn off your phones and get to the barn. If you are going to sit back and re-evaluate your life while planning for new adventures, sit down and make a list. Every one of these goals requires you to clean your windshield to see what is ahead of you.  As we go down the highway of life we have a big broad windshield in front of us. We can see great distances and have great hopes of what I'd to come in our lives. In-order to see down that road, you must clea...

It is Just a Show

In the beginning I was not a watcher or a fan. There was a lot of talk. Chatter online. Then I decided to tune and check out all the hype. There is cattle, ranching, horses, politics, drama, and suspense. This show was a creation from the mind of a very creative horse jockey. The story is well written, the acting is superb, and the raw attitude is what brings people back each week. This show hits an audience that is hungry for real talk, real action, and real results. The bad part is it is all fiction.  The show is full of wrong information. Actions that make no sense. Calves do not jump up and start running immediately after being born. Most cattle ranches don’t take their hands and shoot them off a cliff if their employment has ended. They don’t brand their workers for show of loyalty. The good news is it is all fiction.  The characters in the show are people you either love or hate. They are characters that bring a lot of talent to the show. These people come from ma...
