God Never Fails

This Memorial Weekend turned out to be a great weekend.  I had the pleasure to attend the High School Graduation in Fairfield, Texas.  The daughter of one of my dearest friends was a senior and leaving high school to head to Texas A&M in the fall.  Whoop!!!

Many people tend to be tough on the millineal generation. Some of the criticism is justified and I in-particular do a face palm a lot when seeing stories or items related to the the youth of America. Yet there are times when everyone surprises me or help renews my faith in humanity. The next generation has a lot to handle.  They have cell phones, twitter, snap-chat, facebook, and instagram that takes up a lot of time.  There are a great number of young Americans that handle all that plus feed cattle, tend to projects, crops and even spend time with family.  They go to Church and even hold each other accountable.

In this High School is a group of girls who have been friends for years. They are best friends and spend a lot of time together, going on trips and growing up.  There are many of admirable traits in these young ladies.  One of them is they hold each other accountable. They keep each other in check and on the right path at all times.  The group started as a small circle of just a few and grew to 6 young ladies.

The parents and friends of these young women hosted a party before graduation.  All these girls seem to be honest, sincere, smart and funny.  They appear ready to concur the world.  Pictures were placed all around the tables displaying a great group of friends. These girls are all mostly going to seperate colleges and are cherishing the time they have left before they go their separate ways.

While walking around visiting and looking at all the pictures I saw many noticeable themes.  The young ladies love to be casual all the time.  They are not camera shy either.  There was one item in almost all of the the pictures that stood out.  When I first saw it I was puzzled. The girls always had these hand signs in the pictures. It reminded me of gang signs and I laughed.  I decided to ask what the hand signs meant. My friends daughter tells me it stands for, "God Never Fails." When you look you can see the GNF in their hands.

Being speechless is something that rarely happens to me.  This time was the exception.  I was blown away when they told me what the hand signs meant.  Almost immediately my faith in the next generation was restored by these 6 young ladies. Here we have 17 and 18 year old young women who are all about to go off to college. They have cell phones, take selfies, sing songs and Snap-chat everything. Yet these young ladies have the strongest faith in God.  If actions like these do not renew your faith in humanity, I would be very shocked and ashamed.

I immediately commented on how wonderful this is and asked how did it come about with the hand gestures.  They said one girl whistles with both hands.  They noticed that her hands were forming the initials GNF.

Now we all have moments of doubt, remorse, and a lost feeling in our life.  Even these young girls will admit they have many events that bother them all the time.  They are a little scared of going off to school, wondering what their future holds.  They are all smart, hardworking and graduated with honors.  What is refreshing is at the end of the day when these young ladies lay their heads down, they know in their hearts, God Never Fails.

It's extremely refreshing to know that young, educated, hard working individuals like this group of girls exist. These ladies are from a small rural farming community. A couple of the girls grew up on farms and the others in town. They are from different ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds. The one bind that is strongest is their faith in God.

We all need to have something to believe in and have hope for in life. Whether you believe in unicorns that fart rainbows or that there is a real deeper purpose to our lives. Our Christian faith will help guide us to that purpose. We all need to believe and know that God Never Fails.

I am one of the people that sees God as the good in us all. I believe he loves the sinners and the saints equally.  In life we spend a lot time wasted on what we don't like and don't want to see. We need to spend more time on the good. The good in people, humanity and most importantly the good in yourself. This does not mean we ignore or back down from those who work to drive a wedge in our lives and between us and our faith.  This means we fight for our right and we fight for those that need our help.

Our time on earth is limited. The time we have should be spent doing good to ourselves and others. We need to always remember that God Never Fails.

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." ~ Helen Keller

Post Script - I had an update on this post. The hand gesture represents an angel. This showed the girls God Never Fails. Picture is below.

You are a special kind of stupid aren't you?

I started this post the other day and it was titled something else and decided to change it since people never cease to amaze me. I know a lot of people. They either worked with me, were one of my employees when I managed people, or friends and family.  I like to follow a wide variety of people on my twitter account.  I think it's important to get a well rounded idea of what people think and believe.      There are some horrific tragedies that have occurred in our country.   They are tragedies that we have seen in the past and will continue to see in the future.  We as Americans come together and support each other, we provide support, food, money, and a prayer.  All are important to the process of rebuilding their lives that have been destroyed.      Theordore Rosevelt was fond of the West African Proverb "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." Pretty good saying in my book. ...

Clean your Windshield

It’s that time of year where people will have the “new year, new me” phrase going strong. For many that will last about 2-3 weeks.  For others they will last well into mid-year. I am of the philosophy that you should make changes immediately in life. If you need to start eating healthier then go to the cupboard and fridge and throw out all unhealthy food. If you are going to stop drinking, throw out all your booze. (Rest a sure this will not happen in my house.) If you are going to start working harder on your livestock, turn off your phones and get to the barn. If you are going to sit back and re-evaluate your life while planning for new adventures, sit down and make a list. Every one of these goals requires you to clean your windshield to see what is ahead of you.  As we go down the highway of life we have a big broad windshield in front of us. We can see great distances and have great hopes of what I'd to come in our lives. In-order to see down that road, you must clea...

It is Just a Show

In the beginning I was not a watcher or a fan. There was a lot of talk. Chatter online. Then I decided to tune and check out all the hype. There is cattle, ranching, horses, politics, drama, and suspense. This show was a creation from the mind of a very creative horse jockey. The story is well written, the acting is superb, and the raw attitude is what brings people back each week. This show hits an audience that is hungry for real talk, real action, and real results. The bad part is it is all fiction.  The show is full of wrong information. Actions that make no sense. Calves do not jump up and start running immediately after being born. Most cattle ranches don’t take their hands and shoot them off a cliff if their employment has ended. They don’t brand their workers for show of loyalty. The good news is it is all fiction.  The characters in the show are people you either love or hate. They are characters that bring a lot of talent to the show. These people come from ma...
