Straight Outta Country

There is a new movie out right now that is called Straight Outta Compton.  It is about artists that changed pop music and hip hop forever.  They were arguably some artists that could be called revolutionary.  I do not listen to Rap or Hip Hop on a regular basis.  I love music of all kinds.  There are songs and singers that can sing beautifully in all genres of music.  If you have an appreciation for music you can not deny that some talent exist in all areas of the music industry.

This movie is one that depicts the struggles of these young men coming out of troubled South Los Angles.  This is a movie about guys how did not have the best start in life, making it large.  This is actually a movie that could be seen as an American Dream Movie.  There are actually a lot of stories like this for the rich and famous.

There are many people in this country that have worked hard and obtained great success.  Some became wealthy beyond belief.  Others created life changing devices or solved some of the worlds greatest mysteries.

Personally I am Straight Outta Country.  I have found it hilarious of all the pictures on social media having a play on words about the Straight Outta Compton movie title.  This was a very popular song that this band sang many years ago.  Straight Outta Blue Bell, Straight Outta Country, Straight Outta Beer.... you get the idea.

What I find ironic is that when it comes to Music, Movies and any kind of Liberal news.  Making a fortune is okay.  It is acceptable to be rich because you did it the "right way."  There numerous examples of people coming from very poor and meager back grounds to be extremely successful.  Below are some examples of the backgrounds that successful people in this country.

  • This future tycoon grew up with a salesman father who was illiterate.  He was one of 8 kids and had to drop out of school at an early age to go to work.  At the time of their death they were the wealthiest persons in the United States.
  • This famous person had many careers growing up.  When they were younger they moved from town to town with their family.  Finally settling in the mid-west the father opened a shoe store and the family set roots.  Upon their death they were revered as one of the most influential people in the United States.
  • One of the countries greatest minds was originally put up for adoption from their birth parents that had good successful careers.  Their adoptive parents were an accountant and coast guard veteran and machinist. They worked with their father in the garage learning about electronics and repairing different devices. At their death they were still considered one of the greatest minds in the United States.
  • This person will have their essays and stories read for many years.  They grew up in the Midwest to a store clerk and housewife.  The humble beginnings were the foundation for a life that continues to change people through the words they wrote.

These people did not have silver spoons in their mouths. They struggled growing up and saw the hardships of their families putting food on the tables.  These people were some of the most influential in our countries history.  They are people that will continue to make a difference in peoples lives.

There are tons of stories like these from people making large in this great country.  What we have to realize is in life is it's not where you start out, it's how you overcome your struggles.  This is what makes you successful.

The people listed above are in order: Cornelius Vanderbilt, Ronald Reagan, Steve Jobs and Mark Twain.  Different generations, different accomplishments, and all who have affected this country and made differences that we should be forever appreciative of their success.

If you ever get a chance please read a book by Rick Rigsby.  It is called "Lessons from a Third Grade Dropout." This is an inspiring story and a great read.  It will hopefully give you some perspective on struggles in life and how to overcome them and be Straight Outta....

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. ~ Winston Churchill

You are a special kind of stupid aren't you?

I started this post the other day and it was titled something else and decided to change it since people never cease to amaze me. I know a lot of people. They either worked with me, were one of my employees when I managed people, or friends and family.  I like to follow a wide variety of people on my twitter account.  I think it's important to get a well rounded idea of what people think and believe.      There are some horrific tragedies that have occurred in our country.   They are tragedies that we have seen in the past and will continue to see in the future.  We as Americans come together and support each other, we provide support, food, money, and a prayer.  All are important to the process of rebuilding their lives that have been destroyed.      Theordore Rosevelt was fond of the West African Proverb "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." Pretty good saying in my book. ...

Clean your Windshield

It’s that time of year where people will have the “new year, new me” phrase going strong. For many that will last about 2-3 weeks.  For others they will last well into mid-year. I am of the philosophy that you should make changes immediately in life. If you need to start eating healthier then go to the cupboard and fridge and throw out all unhealthy food. If you are going to stop drinking, throw out all your booze. (Rest a sure this will not happen in my house.) If you are going to start working harder on your livestock, turn off your phones and get to the barn. If you are going to sit back and re-evaluate your life while planning for new adventures, sit down and make a list. Every one of these goals requires you to clean your windshield to see what is ahead of you.  As we go down the highway of life we have a big broad windshield in front of us. We can see great distances and have great hopes of what I'd to come in our lives. In-order to see down that road, you must clea...

It is Just a Show

In the beginning I was not a watcher or a fan. There was a lot of talk. Chatter online. Then I decided to tune and check out all the hype. There is cattle, ranching, horses, politics, drama, and suspense. This show was a creation from the mind of a very creative horse jockey. The story is well written, the acting is superb, and the raw attitude is what brings people back each week. This show hits an audience that is hungry for real talk, real action, and real results. The bad part is it is all fiction.  The show is full of wrong information. Actions that make no sense. Calves do not jump up and start running immediately after being born. Most cattle ranches don’t take their hands and shoot them off a cliff if their employment has ended. They don’t brand their workers for show of loyalty. The good news is it is all fiction.  The characters in the show are people you either love or hate. They are characters that bring a lot of talent to the show. These people come from ma...
